Dungog Shire Library Official Opening Event
Published on 11 July 2023
Dungog Shire Council is thrilled to announce the official opening of the newly refurbished Dungog Shire Library event.
“While we have opened the doors to the public for a few weeks now, this event marks an important milestone and finalisation of a highly anticipated and vital community infrastructure project,” Mayor Connors said.
This is the most significant upgrade the library has undergone in 40 years, resulting in the doubling in size of the existing building and the introduction of modern amenities.
“Dungog Shire Library has always been a cherished space for knowledge, learning, and community engagement,” Dungog Mayor John Connors said.
“The community has long awaited these improved facilities, and now, they are invited to join the official proceedings and witness the remarkable transformation of this important community asset,” Mayor Connors said.
The event will take place at Dungog Shire Library, 17 Mackay Street, Dungog, Wednesday, July 19 from 11.30am.
Library Council President, the Hon. George Souris will be on hand to officiate the proceedings, with light lunch and refreshments served following official proceedings.
Interested community members can reserve their free tickets via this link. RSVP by July 13.
The library upgrade project was funded by a $500,000 NSW State Library Public Library Infrastructure grant, a $330,000 Australian Government Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program grant and a $250,000 Council contribution.
