Council Connect: 20 December 2024
Published on 20 December 2024
Good morning, everyone. I hope you're having an enjoyable December. For those who don't know me, my name is James Campbell. I'm 21 and an Environmental Science and Management student at the University of Newcastle.
Some of you may recall my face as a former part-time medical receptionist in Clarence Town and Paterson medical centres. Now, I serve as the youngest voice on Council, representing B Ward alongside Councillor Steve Lowe. I advocate for Council to take a more proactive approach and collaborate with our state and federal counterparts to provide better services for our shire.
That's enough about me. So the council message this week, there's not too much to say as it's the last week before Christmas. Just a reminder about the changes to waste collection. Garbage collection dates will be slightly altered to allow our waste contractor’s employees to spend Christmas Day and New Year's Day with their families. This means that during the weeks of Christmas and New Year's Day, collections from Wednesday onwards will be postponed by one day. The revised dates can be found on the Council's Facebook page.
Council facilities will also close for a short time over the festive season, starting from 24 December 2024. Please refer to the Council's website or Facebook page for more information on which operators will be affected during this time.
As the holiday season approaches, let's all remember to drive safely and show extra patience on the roads. This season is busy, and we all need to play a part in keeping it safe for everyone.
And from all at Dungog Shire Council, and from my family to yours, have a Merry Christmas.
