Council Connect: 14 March 2025
Published on 14 March 2025
Good morning Dungog. Councillor James Campbell here. There's been quite a lot on Council's agenda recently. The recent weather events we’ve been lucky that they haven't disrupted our day-to-day life as they have in Queensland. However, with the recent weather events, we did see some road and bridge closures due to flooding, but things are being cleared and returned to normal quickly. A big thank you to Council crews, SES, and volunteers who have worked tirelessly during this time to really keep our community resilient.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit feedback during the public exhibition period for the Clarence Town Structure Plan, and please remember that we are also looking for your input for the Flood Study survey, which is open until 31st March. Your local knowledge and personal experience with flooding are invaluable in helping us develop an accurate and effective study. So please take the time to fill in the survey if you can. A link to the survey can be found on our website and Facebook page, and copies can also be found at the Council's Administration Building and the Clarence Town Post Office.
Now Youth Week. Council is currently calling for applications to our Youth Week Grants Program. Grants of up to $750 are available to fund a Youth Week activity or event. The Youth Week Grants Program is designed for young people to express their ideas and views, and create and enjoy activities and events. Applications are currently open until 27 March, so get your submissions in. More information and a link to the application form can be found on the Council's website and Facebook page now.
Additionally, please be advised that due to planned track work in the Hunter area, buses are scheduled to replace trains every Wednesday between 19 March and 30 April. This will affect one service each day on a Wednesday for about seven weeks and is limited to the mid-morning service that departs Dungog at 10.02am in the morning. The four other daily local services will be operating as trains and not be affected by this. From Maitland to Dungog a connecting bus will depart Maitland railway station at 9.35am and arrive at Dungog a bit later than normal, at 10.41am. From Dungog to Newcastle, the replacement bus is scheduled to depart at its usual time, at 10.02am and arrive in Newcastle at 12.17pm
So please plan ahead and avoid unnecessary travel. Thank you and I will see you next time.
