Free Pet Microchipping Day - Dungog Shire
On Saturday, February 8th, Dungog Shire Council is hosting a FREE Pop-Up Microchipping Day at the Doug Walters Pavilion from 10am - 2pm.
Get your cat or dog microchipped – no booking required, and the process is quick, easy, and virtually painless for your furry friend!
Why microchip?
It’s an important part of responsible pet ownership, helping ensure your pets can be safely reunited with you if they ever get lost. Plus, it’s the law in NSW that all cats and dogs must be microchipped by 12 weeks old, or before they’re sold or given away (whichever comes first).
Event Details:
Feb 8, 2025
Time: 10am - 2 am
Location: Doug Walters Pavilion
Important Info:
• No booking required
• Proof of Dungog Shire residence required (like a driver’s license or utility bill)
• Dogs must be on a lead, cats in carriers
• Microchipping is free!
• No fines will be issued at this event! Failing to microchip your pet carries a fine, but we won’t be issuing or enforcing any fines during this pop-up event. We're just here to help make your pets safe.
Need to microchip more than three pets, or have an aggressive animal?
Please contact Dungog Shire Council ahead of time for assistance.

Did you know working dogs get free registration? But if your working dog isn’t microchipped and ends up in the pound, they may lose their working dog status
