Public Exhibition - Fees & Charges Electric Vehicle Charging Station
At the Council Meeting 20 November 2024, Council resolved to place proposed interim fees and charges for the Electric Vehicle Charging Stations on public exhibition for 28 days.
Council is required to notify under Section 6.10 (f) Public Notice of Fees under the Local Government Act for 28 days exhibition in order to approve the fee structure and the amounts charged. The proposed fees and charges have been compared to other LGA’s in the Hunter region and is considered interim until the fees and charges are re-considered and set by Council in the annual budget process for the following financial year.
The following duration and energy charging processes are proposed and include:
1. A connection fee - a small fee charged when you plug in.
2. A fee for energy used and subscription cost to manage the usage.
3. An idle fee which is triggered if people have charged their vehicle and leave it plugged and use the station as a car park.
The principles behind the fees and charges are:
1. Full cost recovery – energy and operations
2. Equitable use for all the community
3. Comparable with charges by nearby LGA’s
Given these principles, the following fees and charges are proposed for both sites:
