Tourism

Dungog Shire, the southern gateway to the World Heritage listed Barrington Tops National Park and the perfect spot for a short break, situated along the Williams and Allyn Rivers in the north-west area of the Hunter Valley.

The Dungog Shire is only a short drive off the Pacific or New England Highway approximately 2.5 hours from Sydney (via the M1 freeway), or just an hour from Newcastle and Port Stephens.

Dungog Shire displays ecotourism at its best, with a wide range of facilities offering rainforest or rural experiences. Discover the natural wonders, enjoy spectacular picnic locations and then relax with the locals over a quiet one at the end of the day. Dungog Shire's rural hinterland and agricultural diversity is supported by farm-gate trails, regular town markets and local retailers who offer a wide range of local produce.

Dungog Shire also offers the opportunity to ride world-class mountain bike trails or drive while exploring the towns and their surrounding countryside where you will be able to appreciate why the locals have been trying to keep their secret quiet for all these years.
